I am glad the [censored] minimum wage is going up, it hasn't changed since I was in high school and my 10 year reunion is coming up. The cost of everything has went up and the people working for minimum wage can barely afford to drive to work. Best thing is for those who run businesses to pay more without an increase in the minimum wage.
You want to keep good people and find good people you pay for it without being forced to.
All an increase in minimum wage will do is bring more from South of the border to the promise land.
And cause cost to increase. So where do you benefit? Minimum wage goes up and in 6 months your almost right where you were before.
We need some with an idea of how to retain employees and not say. Here this is what you can have and that is all.
Right now most restaurant folks in middle tn. make about 9-10 dollars and hour. And more.
Why?
The people get good service. The owners never have to look for help.
And the employees actually see a benefit in what they make.
Hmm. What an idea. Pay folks a decent wage and it pay off for both the employee and the employer.
Maybe that will catch on.
It has in most places except areas like ours. Where most business owners are to tight with their bucks.

Do I expect them to fix everything? Absolutely not. Do I expect them to fix anything? Not a lot, but then again I'm not going in pretending they say they're gonna give us gold bars each week either.
Gas should go down, its amazing how all the hurricanes, refinery fires, or whatever excuse there is magically happened right at the holidays again.
Minimum wage should go up some. Most people who dont get minimum wage see an increase over time, because here's a concept costs go up. We say the rich need tax breaks to put money into the system but then the others dont get breaks, dont get more money and everything costs more, then we gripe that they keep wanting things handed to them.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.
A minimum wage hike is going to hurt the small business owner. Although 28 states already have a higher minimum wage than the federal wage, I dont think it will be that big of a deal.
If anything though it will eliminate some jobs which will in turn hurt the people that its supposed to actually help. Its one of those things that sounds great before you actually consider all the facts and the effects.
It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.

To me it sounds like the GOP have been hanging around the Baseball owners too much. You know, please poverty, can't make it....but yet won't open their books.
I guess I'm stuck thinking about these places that pay people minimum wage or near it, and then you see what they own, drive and live in. Call me crazy, the few extra dollars (in their scheme of things) isn't going to hurt them. Reckon people like Boiling or whatever his name is at the Double Kwiks will be able to pay that extra 10 cents per hour to his employees, I mean may have to cut a square foot out of his mansion thats being built, but I'm sure they can eek it out.

What's the point of raising minimim wage when the price of "living" will raise as well. Nothing will change.
Price of living raises anyways, at least you get people somewhat closer.
I mean think about it, most jobs or careers have built in cost of living raises or such, yet the minimum wages don't, then we complain that nobody wants to work and you see certain places that have to hire non-stop. Nobody can rationalize going to work and breaking even. People got part time jobs to give them spending money, to save for a car, have gas money, etc. If they basically make no money, why would a person work?
